Fire Chief
Ravenna Township, Portage County Ohio
The Ravenna Township Board of Trustees are accepting applications for a full-time Fire Chief.
Ravenna Township covers 21 square miles in Portage County, with a population of 9,000. The Fire Department has 10 career and 16 part-time employees who are trained in Fire and EMS, responding to 1,850 calls annually. This is a new position. Previous Fire Chiefs have been part-time employees.
The Fire Chief reports directly to the Board of Trustees. Full Time Benefits include Insurance (Health, Vision, Dental, Life) or Waiver Stipend, and Accrued time off.
Candidates for the Fire Chief position shall have a minimum of 10 years of Fire and EMS experience, with 5 years of experience as a Fire Officer or in Administration. Minimum qualifications for the position are as follows: Ohio Firefighter 2, Paramedic, Fire Instructor, and Certified Fire Safety Inspector. Candidates shall have Fire Officer 1 and 2 and must obtain 3 and 4 within a year. NIMS 100, 200, 300, 700, and 800 are required and 400 must be obtained within a year. A minimum of an Associate Degree in an Emergency Services related field, or equivalent degree/program is preferred.
Comparable combinations of experience, education, and certifications will be considered. The candidate must pass a background check, physical and psychological exam, and drug screen.
The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $82,000
